I found this book to be a horror storyRE READ 09212015Seriously this book could not be horrifying depressing and completely pointless If you want to read about how horrible life is for Muslim women in the Middle East and endless stories of how they are raped beaten abused spit on owned as property treated as lower than dogs and murdered over and over and over and over again with no hope and no redeeming features I would suggest you read Khaled Hosseini s books instead of this At least they have a bit of a point and a tiny glimpse of a possible future I would only read this book if you really really really want to depress yourselfNot to mention that this is written as if it is a one room play all the action taking place in one room Avant garde perhaps but hella boring And the writing style is choppy and annoying She picks up the little rug unfolds it and stretches it out on the ground The morning prayer done she remains sitting takes the Koran and opens it at the page marked with a peacock feather which she removes and holds in her right hand With her left she tells the prayer beadsAfter reading a few verses she puts back the feather closes the Koran and sits thoughtfully for a moment gazing at the feather peeking out of the sacred book She strokes it sadly at first then anxiouslyThe whole book is like this Very boring alternating with extremely depressing and painful with the most HORRIFYING and DISGUSTING ending you could even possibly imagine There s just no upside to reading this just zeroOriginally published in French

Syngué sabourPierre de patience characters ✓ 109 Ier livre d'Ati Rahimi directement écrit en français A la uestion pouruoi il repond «Il me fallait une autre langue ue la mienne pour parler des tabous?. To the patience stone according to the legend everyone can talk about everything that weighs on him about his bitterness and suffering and it in a mysterious way will listen to him and offer him relief The corresponding stone of patience for the protagonist of the story is her husband who is in a coma due to a clash in war torn Afghanistan He of course does not respond and nothing shows that he listens to everything his wife tells him but this also means that he cannot stop her or argue with her for daring to talk about things she should not So our heroine as she takes care of him with the few means she has speaks freely to him about all that torments her and did not dare to take it out of her about her worries about her life that offered her only sorrows about the position of women and the mentality of men that leads them to violent acts for his behaviour and the lack of tenderness that she so desperately needed for her deeply hidden secretsThrough this wonderful sometimes tender and sometimes intense but always moving monologue many things are revealed that I dare say that in many cases go beyond the experience of a Muslim woman and reach things that are universal I feel that the author opens a window to the female soul to the soul of this creature who longs for tenderness and understanding and asks for little things to be happy At the same time however there is a lot for men who constantly want to fight for great or small ideas that are never satisfied and are in a constant struggle to prove their manhood forgetting along the way what is really important These are not of course things that are limited to any part of the planet they are all around us and the author manages to highlight them in the best way inviting perhaps in some way men to really listen and women to speak and so that there may be a real unity of souls and bodies that leads to essential happiness
